Dr. Amrita Mahesh, a transplant nephrologist at Legacy Good Samaritan Medical Center’s Transplant Services, has lived with lupus since age 13, leading to kidney failure. During her undergrad, she learned she would need a kidney transplant. A friend offered to donate but tragically passed away three days after submitting the paperwork. His parents honored his wish, and Dr. Mahesh received the kidney.
