APPALACHIAN SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE PROJECT
The long awaited flush of strawberries is here. Strawberries are a special type of food magic—they are the first fruit to ripen making them classic harbingers of spring and they are the only fruit that grows its seeds on the outside. With more Vitamin C than oranges, strawberries are not actually a berry but an accessory fruit that is botanically related to roses.

For this month’s Faces of Local interview, we spoke with Morgan Davies. Morgan, along with her husband Mark and mother, Cynthia Goff, took over ownership of The Ten Acre Garden in December of 2023. @thetenacregarden is located in Canton, NC and has a farm stand, u-pick produce and flowers, and on-farm activities too like classes, live music, and wood-fired pizza nights.
