By the late 1800s, sewing machines and the popularity of pre-made patterns modeled after Parisian fashion made the latest styles increasingly accessible to middle class American women. 🪡 In conjunction with the exhibition "Dressed to Impress," Fairfield Museum’s Walt Matis will discuss how Bridgeport became a hub of sewing machine manufacturers, including Howe Machine Company, Wheeler & Wilson Manufacturing Company, and Singer Manufacturing Company. 🧵 Free admission.
