Bay Area Center for Independent Culture
BACIC began in 1997 with a small committee of social activists, business people and cultural enthusiasts. With little experience producing theater and many years experience building community, we committed ourselves to creating BACIC as an environment for producing theater and other cultural events whose mission is the growth and development of everyone involved from the actors to the audience, from the tech team to the ushers... Everything we've done since our start from our street fundraising performances and numerous play readings and theater productions to the launch of our development program for youth has been done in the spirit of liberating performance from the confines of the stage for use in creating and performing our everyday lives.
