Researchers from Dalhousie University make it clear that drifting Fish Aggregating Devices (dFADs) have no boundaries, reaching 37% of the world's oceans. Moving with the currents, these dFADs have an impact beyond the tuna fishing grounds where they are deployed. Ecologically, impacts are experienced as bycatch of marine life like sharks and turtles, marine pollution, entrapment of species, and damage to marine habitats. More on this here: (fb)
