American Friends of Ezrat Avot
Ezrat Avot is a leader in non-profit, community eldercare in Israel and a strong advocate for providing services and education necessary to enable seniors to age in the comfort and dignity of their own homes and communities. Ezrat Avot was founded in 1976 and was originally established as a soup kitchen and center for the local elderly population in the destitute neighborhood in Nachalat Tzvi, Jerusalem. Ezrat Avot has since grown into a multi-faceted organization providing nutritional and social services, elder-abuse awareness, resources and intergenerational education regarding the elderly of Jerusalem and beyond. Our activities extend from Ashkelon in Southern Israel to Tzefat near the Northern border. Ezrat Avot aims to serve as a successful model for reaching out to Israel's aged citizens with the goal of relieving their emotional, physical and financial hardships. Ezrat Avot achieves this by providing a supportive community structure of enrichment programs, food and fundamental social services in a warm, culturally appropriate environment. In addition, our intergenerational programs aim to educate the public about the value of integrating seniors as vital members of the broader community.
