Strawberries are here — and so is the full crew! 🍓 Last week on the farm was full of life and energy. We picked our very first strawberries of the season — the biggest and boldest “king berries” — and planted the first flowers for our summer U-pick, including zinnias and dahlias. With our full field team now on board (welcome, Ellie and Isabel!), the farm was buzzing. Beds were prepped, seedlings planted, nets stretched, weeds pulled — all in a day’s work as we gear up for a busy harvest season just around the corner. You can find our strawberries at @catboat_coffee and other local spots — get them while they’re fresh! And yes, sometimes the work paused for daffodils and a good photo moment. (fb)

What if growing your garden could also grow our island’s resilience? The MV Community Seed Library @mvseedlibrary is a community-powered project where seeds — and knowledge — are freely shared. A collaboration between Island Grown Initiative, @wtpubliclibrary, @pollyhillarboretum, @whippoorwillfarm.mv, and local home gardeners, the library helps Islanders “check out” seeds to grow at home and return seeds from their healthiest plants. Over time, this builds a collection uniquely adapted to Martha’s Vineyard’s climate, while reviving the age-old practice of seed saving. Free, open to all, and rooted in food sovereignty, the Seed Library is about more than gardening — it’s about reconnecting with our land and each other. (fb)
