Mathew Vincent and his wife, Sam, recently welcomed their son, Levi, at Wynn Hospital. After a brief stay in the NICU, Levi was transferred to Crouse but sadly passed away at just 13 days old. Two years ago, their first son was born at St. Luke’s and spent 22 days in the NICU. Now a healthy and energetic toddler, he celebrated his second birthday on March 31. Mathew and Sam deeply appreciate the care provided by the MVHS staff, especially the NICU team, for both of their sons. In honor of Levi’s memory, Mathew wanted to ensure his short life had a lasting impact. He reached out to family, friends and the community to donate high-quality tissues to the NICUs at Wynn and Crouse. As he put it, “Parents and families experiencing the scariest days of their lives should be able to dry their tears and blow their noses in comfort. As a two-time NICU dad, trust me on this small but meaningful part of the experience.” The response was incredible, with an outpouring of tissue donations, including contributions from our IMCU staff. In fact, more than twice the amount pictured was delivered to Crouse Hospital. We are truly grateful to Mathew and Sam for their generosity and compassion, even in their time of loss. (fb)
