Parent Leaders from across the state met in person and virtually with Dr. Teresa Ramos, the first Secretary of the new Illinois Department of Early Childhood! Leaders shared their hopes for her and the new department. They also spoke to her about their local and statewide early learning goals, including: 🔷 Creating a table of parents in the new department to help inform the state's work 🔷 In addition to calls for a $60M increase in funding for Early Intervention (EI), parents want to implement a pilot to ensure families from underserved communities have better access to EI. Right now, at least 3,000 families are facing long wait lists, with some children aging out before they get services. 🔷 Investing in childcare and increasing all-day preschool slots for 3-year olds in Chicago (fb)
