With Love From Harlan’s mission began in 2017 when the founders were inspired to collect donations and transport them from the small Appalachian coal town of Harlan, KY to hurricane victims in Texas. The support for these missions was so great that the group began responding to natural disasters of all kinds throughout the southeast. We expanded our mission to address the economic hardships in our own backyard with our Blessing Box project which if one person received one item from each box every day of the year…146,000 Blessings in one year alone. We saw a need within our community so we began a weekend meal program which served just over 18,000 meals in 19 months (up until Covid-19 hit). Our church family (Christ Church Harlan), though small, showed much love to everyone who came.
