East Wind Foundation for Youth
The East Wind Foundation for Youth is a 501(c)3 registered nonprofit organization based in the Los Angeles Chinatown community. Established in 1972 by Sifu Ron Quan, the organization focuses on empowering and uplifting inner-city youths through various programs designed to promote cultural heritage, academic achievement, athletic enhancement, and community involvement.
Mission and Core Values
The foundation's mission is "Empower. Cultivate. Inspire." Its core values include self-discipline, responsibility, camaraderie and solidarity, innovation and creativity, self-efficacy, and social mobility. These principles guide its efforts to foster personal growth, community leadership, and social responsibility among its youth participants.
Programs
The organization offers a comprehensive range of activities:
- Performing Arts: Participation in lion dancing and martial arts helps children appreciate their cultural heritage.

Notably, all members of the organization, including its leadership and instructors, are unpaid volunteers who contribute their time and expertise to support the community.
