We would like you to meet Ventura-based Zapotec Artist Porfirio Gutierrez! We had the privilege of taking a group of Santa Maria and Oxnard youth to his studio for a day of passing down knowledge that he holds as a custodian of traditional knowledge of cochineal. Along with Tanya Aguiñiga, Gutierrez was an integral part of developing this critically acclaimed exhibition on view today.
