Project Rouj

At Project Rouj we strive for excellence in everything we do, but the key is what we don’t do. We don’t give houses to Haitians. That wouldn’t break the cycle of poverty, and it’s not what they want, anyway. Haitians want jobs. They want stability. They want to provide for their families themselves. Ultimately, Haitians want dignity. And we exist to help them achieve it. The money you donate to our organization is earned by Haitians—never handed to them. We hire local workers and pay them living wages to build homes, thereby creating jobs and affordable housing in the same stroke. What’s more, our work “primes the pump” of commerce, generating skilled workers with money to infuse into their own local economies. That’s how the cycle of poverty becomes the cycle of renewal.
