Investing in the Safe Routes To School fund is a critical step in transforming our transportation system to meet the needs of all residents—pedestrians, cyclists and drivers alike. But we need consistent revenue to fund the program. Three bills currently in front of the governor—HB1231, SB1195 and SB1009—would do just that. If signed into law, these measures could collectively generate about $5 million each year for the SRTS program.
