Overview
The organization's primary initiative is the development of Art Omi Pavilions at Chatham, a project situated on a 190-acre site. This initiative aims to create a cultural landscape featuring 12 to 18 individual Pavilions designed by distinguished artists and collectors in collaboration with architects. The project has received significant financial support, including a $5 million grant from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) and a $2 million grant from The Market New York/Regional Economic Councils. These grants reflect the regional recognition and support for this innovative art project.
Cultural Context
The pavilions will be situated along a prominent art route in the Hudson Valley, connecting with other iconic cultural landmarks such as Storm King, Dia:Beacon, and MASS MoCA. This placement aims to enhance Chatham's cultural charm and attract tourists, locals, and art enthusiasts worldwide.
Timeline
Construction for the first phase of Art Omi Pavilions at Chatham is expected to begin in 2024, with the first phase anticipated to open to the public by fall 2025. The project's multi-phase approach ensures gradual development while preserving the natural environment.
