Adapted from a short story by Oscar Wilde the work addresses themes of empathy compassion and togetherness as the selfish giant learns to share his garden with neighboring children. Opera is not currently included in the offerings of area organizations providing schools with teaching artists. Inschool previews have always been part of BOUs effort to develop future audiences but this year we are launching a program with a curriculum meeting NYS arts standards prepared by a certified educator for use by participating schools.
