Ballona Bird! The White-faced Ibis is an exotic-looking bird. Several of these birds have been regular visitors to the non-tidal wetlands just south of Jefferson Blvd in Area B of the Ballona Wetlands. They have been seen feeding on invasive Red Swamp Crayfish and other aquatic organisms. This habitat has undergone a fundamental change in the last year or so due to changes in the hydrological management of the ecological reserve. Water that was previously diverted directly into the Ballona Creek has instead been allowed to flow into this non-tidal marsh.
