Overview
The Bureau of Governmental Research, Inc. (BGR) is a private, nonprofit, independent research organization dedicated to informed public policy making and the effective use of public resources. Activities
BGR's work consists of two primary components:
- Monitoring Local Government: BGR stays informed about current issues and identifies new ones to craft relevant annual work plans.
- Public Policy Research and Reporting: BGR conducts objective, nonpartisan research to uncover facts, frame issues, and recommend solutions on significant policy issues in the New Orleans area. Over the years, BGR has published more than 1,500 reports aimed at improving government functions.

BGR's research has contributed significantly to government reforms in the region. It has been recognized with numerous national awards for its distinguished research and service.
Financial Profile
As a 501(c)(3) organization, donations to BGR are tax-deductible. Contributions are the primary source of revenue, supplemented by investment income and asset sales. BGR maintains a substantial asset base and minimal liabilities.
