We need your voice to oppose the last-minute changes to the budget reconciliation bill that the House of Representatives is likely to vote on this week that would harm New Jersey. The bill would let developers evade federal environmental laws, impede our ability to fight climate change, and endanger our coastline. The bill would let sponsors of projects that require environmental assessments or environmental impact statements under the National Environmental Policy Act to pay a fee to potentially expedite completion of the assessments or statements and for exemption from judicial review. Without the ability to delay or stop projects that violate laws like the Endangered Species Act, those projects will go forward. The bill would cut $100 million from the Investing in Coastal Communities and Climate Resilience program. New Jersey was awarded over $72 million from this initiative for the Building a Climate Ready New Jersey program, which would implement a transformational resilience initiative across 16 coastal counties to fight floodwaters. The bill would also put more than 500,000 acres of public land up for sale and cut staff and millions of dollars of funding for the Forest Service and the National Park Service. Everyone who enjoys climbing, mountain biking, paddling, and camping will lose trails and streams to pay for tax cuts. Tell your member of Congress to oppose this harmful bill! Protecting Exploring the Pinelands Our Mission Purpose To preserve the Pine Barrens ecosystem promote wide public engagement in the preservation and enjoyment of natural resources and advance acquisition of land and development rights for conservation. We seek to connect people with nature by promoting universal and equitable enjoyment of the benefits of our natural resources. With Pinelands Adventures and The Pinelands Is for Everyone we help people of all ages backgrounds and abilities explore nature through healthgiving recreation and so develop a genuine devotion to environmental protection. Through Rancocas Creek Farm our regenerative vegetable farm we are developing an array of projects and partnerships to increase sustainable farming and bring healthy food from local farmers to all South Jersey families.
