Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society

Overview

Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society is an international organization recognized as the official honor society for two-year colleges by the American Association of Community Colleges. It was established in 1918 by Missouri two-year college presidents to recognize and encourage the academic achievements of community college students. PTK offers opportunities for individual growth and development through honors, leadership, and service programming.

Mission and Hallmarks

The mission of Phi Theta Kappa is to recognize the academic achievements of college students and provide opportunities for them to grow as scholars and leaders. The organization is guided by four hallmark principles:

Members are eligible to wear Phi Theta Kappa regalia at graduation and receive a special seal on their diploma. The society provides pathways for community college students to secure transfer scholarships and exclusive career-bound opportunities.

Chapters and Presence

Phi Theta Kappa has over 1,300 chapters located in all 50 states of the U.S., as well as in Canada, Germany, Japan, and other territories. The organization boasts more than 3 million members worldwide, making it the largest honor society in American higher education.
