This weekend, Newport is where classic meets modern. The 12 Metre North American Championship is underway in Newport, Rhode Island, a preview of next year’s 12 Metre Worlds. Thanks to a new rating system developed by Peter Gerald, Modern and Classic 12 Metres are lining up together in pursuit-style racing—different generations competing head-to-head for the same trophy.
