Local musician, Chris James Dipretoro, will be joining us at our upcoming South Portland Food Cupboard Wine Tasting Fundraiser on April 22nd! ✨ Learn more about his journey and passion for music by reading below. ⬇️ Born and raised in South Portland, Maine, Chris James Dipretoro carries deep family roots in the community—both his own family and his wife’s still call South Portland home. Raised by a single mother alongside his brother and sister, Chris discovered a love for music early on, often entertaining his family with Elvis Presley songs as a child. His passion for performing blossomed during his high school years at South Portland High School, where he took the stage in musical theatre productions. Whether it’s singing karaoke with friends and family or performing for a crowd, music has always been at the heart of his life. About three years ago, Chris began busking on Exchange Street in Portland’s Old Port, using the opportunity to hone his craft and connect with the public. Though his American Idol journey didn’t go as planned, it only fueled his dedication. His street performances quickly led to invitations from local businesses and open mic nights, eventually turning into regular gigs throughout the Portland area. A hardworking musician with a love for both performing and songwriting, Chris continues to chase the dream of becoming a full-time entertainer.
