Remember, anyone can check an available dog out for the day to take home, run and get a pup cup or go on a hike. This is a great way for us to learn more about our dogs and give them a break from their kennel. Just wanted to share some pics from Lokie's day out on a hike in the Cowiche Canyon! We've walked Lokie plenty of times around the shelter, but we got to see a different side of him during his day out. He's always high energy around the shelter (we understand why) and during the hike he was able to calm down, decompress, and just wanted to be near us at all times. He did such a great job and he is the biggest lover boy. He walked well on a leash and constantly checked in with us. He did tire out about halfway through the 3.5 mile hike, which we figured would happen since he's on the smaller side, but we found a bench and took a nice rest then he was ready to go for the last half of the hike. He's very well-mannered and wasn't bothered by other dogs passing by him. Afterward, we took him back to our house to play in the yard and he kept himself entertained with dog toys the entire time. He does love to play keep away if you try to get the toys from him! He snoozed on the car ride back to the shelter and I'm sure slept the rest of the day away!
