MISSION STATEMENT Since 1993, Building Achieving Minds (BAM) has been positively impacting the educational and social environments of children, grades K-12, who lack after-school supervision and live in communities that expose them to the risks of the inner city. Many of these students are reading and writing below grade level, as well as not possessing basic math and technology skills. All human beings are born with an innate intelligence potential and capacity for learning. In many cases, however, equitable access to knowledge does not exist for all students. All children deserve the opportunity to develop the necessary academic and social skills to compete in today's global economy. BAM has been addressing these issues. Building Achieving Minds provides children/youth from low-income families with access to learning opportunities that allow them to achieve their full potential. This goal is achieved by offering the following services and program components: extensive after-school programs; supplemental tutoring; educational enrichment; skill-building and technology education in conjunction with our local and national community partners through diagnostic testing; individualized learning plans; tutoring in basic educational skills; character and technology education.
