Senior Homelessness Rising in San Diego: Adults 55+ now make up 1 in 3 of the region’s homeless population, as reported in the 2025 Point in Time Count data released this week by the Regional Task Force on Homelessness While overall homelessness is down, the continued rise among seniors signals an urgent need for age-specific solutions. "Behind these numbers are real people – grandparents, neighbors, longtime community members – now without a place to call home,” Serving Seniors CEO Melinda Forstey. We have proven solutions.

This month's West Cooking Demo was hosted by Chef Israel Hernandez from AARP. He made Crispy Tostones with Garlic Mojo, a Puerto Rican-style staple that is easy to prepare and full of flavor. This recipe has been passed down in Israel's family since his great-grandparents, and the seniors agreed that this meal is tasty.
