Traci Stumpf was 33 years old and had what was described as a "textbook pregnancy". However, everything changed when she went into labor with her daughter, Lois. Traci's blood pressure skyrocketed, and shortly after delivery was rushed to the maternal ICU. She was diagnosed with postpartum preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome. Traci reflects, "I eventually left the hospital, but my recovery was far from over. I was left to navigate the early postpartum days in a way I never could have imagined." Traci was later diagnosed with chronic immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP). She went on to have a second child, and with careful monitoring with her providers, she did not experience the same complications. "If sharing my story helps even one person, then this chapter of my life has meaning far beyond survival. Awareness is powerful, and our stories have the power to save lives."
