Igbere Development Association
The Igbere Development Association (IDA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the development and welfare of the Igbere community. Established by Igbere natives in the diaspora, the organization focuses on advancing charitable, educational, cultural, and scientific initiatives for the community.
Founding and Purpose
The association was formally established following an inaugural meeting on March 26, 2017. Its primary purpose is to promote community-based projects that foster growth and development, ensuring that the people of Igbere enjoy basic rights in line with global standards. The organization operates under the principles of justice, fairness, integrity, transparency, accountability, and the rule of law.
Projects and Achievements
-
Education: IDA has been involved in renovating educational facilities. Notably, it renovated the main building of Igbere Secondary School and the Science Building, enhancing the infrastructure for students. Additionally, IDA has provided modern classroom desks, aligning with the school's needs.
-
Water Supply: Recognizing the need for improved water access, IDA undertook the rehabilitation of the Igbere Water Scheme, which had been dormant for over a decade. The successful completion of Phase 2 of this project has significantly improved water availability for the community.
-
Community Development: Beyond infrastructure, IDA supports various initiatives aimed at addressing social needs and fostering community development.
Operational Approach
Donors contribute financially to IDA, which then allocates these funds to targeted projects and initiatives beneficial to the Igbere community. The organization encourages active participation from its members and supporters, fostering a collaborative approach to achieving its goals.
Governance and Structure
Although specific details about the governance structure and leadership roles are not detailed here, IDA operates with a structured organizational framework. It conducts meetings and engages in fundraising activities to support its projects.
Impact and Future Directions
As a community-driven organization, IDA's initiatives have positively impacted the lives of Igbere residents by enhancing educational opportunities and improving basic services like water supply. The organization continues to seek partnerships and donations to further its mission and expand its reach within the community.
