This year, we expanded access to fresh food and green space at three Newark high schools: American History, Barringer, and West Side. These New Jersey schools sit in food deserts, but with our new agricultural program in place, students got their hands dirty—literally! With support from OXO, five juniors joined a paid year-round apprenticeship; students with autism learned to manage hydroponic and raised-bed gardens; and garden club members dug into weekly lessons from local farmers.
