Washington Basset Rescue
WABR mission is to keep unwanted, abandoned, or abused dogs out of shelters and into loving homes. We are happy to work with families who have issues with their dogs, or accept surrenders from those who cannot keep their dogs. We accept Bassets, mixes, Beagles, or any hound in need of saving.
Washington Basset Rescue
Washington Basset Rescue (WABR) is a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing and rehoming Basset Hounds and Beagles. Founded in 1988 by Pat Benstine, the organization aims to keep these breed dogs out of shelters by placing them in suitable forever homes.
Mission
The mission of WABR is to assist in the placement of unwanted, abandoned, or abused Basset Hounds and Beagles into loving homes, working closely with the public, animal shelters, veterinarians, and other rescue groups. The organization relies on a network of foster homes to care for the dogs until permanent placements are found.
Operations
WABR operates without a facility, depending on foster homes in the Spokane area to provide temporary care for the rescued dogs. The organization is led by a team of directors and relies on volunteers to support its mission.
Adoption Process
The adoption process involves a series of steps to ensure the best match between the dog and the adopter. This includes an initial application, meeting with the dog in its foster home, and a follow-up period after adoption to ensure a smooth transition.
History and Impact
Since its inception, WABR has rescued and rehomed thousands of dogs. The organization's efforts are supported by donations and the active involvement of its community.
Legal Status
Washington Basset Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with the EIN 91-1962539. It operates as a tax-exempt entity, with all donations being tax-deductible.
