The Chinese Friendship Association of Portland is a non-profit, community-based organization dedicated to serving all communities in Oregon. The Chinese Friendship Association of Portland is a non-profit, community-based organization dedicated to serving the Chinese community in the Portland area by enriching their personal and professional lives. THE PURPOSE OF THIS ASSOCIATION IS TO (1) FOSTER GREATER CULTURAL UNDERSTANDINGBETWEEN OREGONIANS AND IMMIGRANTS; (2) PROVIDE EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES TO THEPUBLIC TO LEARN ABOUT THE IMMIGRANT STORY AND THEIR TRADITIONS AND CUSTOMS; (3) BUILDA BRIDGE OF CULTURAL AWARENESS AND UNDERSTANDING, ETHNIC TOLERANCE, AND STRIVE FOR AMORE HARMONIOUS EXISTENCE; (4) ASSIST RECENT CHINESE IMMIGRANTS AND THE ASIANCOMMUNITY IN OREGON WHO ARE IN NEED OF FINANCIAL AND SOCIAL SERVICE AND TOBECOME PRODUCTIVE AND GOOD MEMBERS OF THEIR COMMUNITIES; (5) ENHANCE OURSELVESAS A COMMUNITY BASED ORGANIZATION TO INCREASE CIVIC ENGAGEMENT, HEALTH EQUITY ANDCOMMUNITY PARTICIPATION WITHIN THE ASIAN COMMUNITIES; AND (6) PROVIDE CIVICLEADERSHIP TRAINING FOR YOUTH.
