The Living City Project sees New York City as a community, a studio and a classroom, offering city-based experiences for teachers and college-aged students, addressing the urgent challenges and opportunities facing the city today. The Living City Project is a NYC-based educational and community engagement non-profit dedicated to empowering young adults to become more engaged citizens aware of the issues facing the city, and advocates for a more equitable system.

Our programs offer citybased experiences for young adults and teachers working with small groups of peers to creatively explore urgent challenges and opportunities facing the city. OUR PROGRAMS An experiential gap semester program for participants ages 1825 engaging with the city as a classroom laboratory studio and community Professional Development workshops in which teachers journey from theory to practice experiencing immersive fieldwork and designing classroom projects OUR APPROACH PlaceBasedWe go outdoors in small cohorts of 810 to explore the places history and policy and engage the people of NYC. ProjectBasedWe pursue consequential projects throughhandson problemsolving and participant agency.
