Housing means more than shelter—it’s a foundation for good health. That’s why WellSpan Evangelical Community Hospital partnered with the Union County Housing Authority and Rural Housing Works on the construction of Newman Commons in Lewisburg, donating 7.33 acres in support of the project designed to provide income-based housing to seniors over the age of 62. The 44-unit property features several new buildings of cottages and a community building to foster social interactions among residents. During the recent ribbon-cutting ceremony, Rural Health Works acknowledged WellSpan’s role in getting the project off the ground by announcing the common room in the central building will be known as the WellSpan Evangelical Community Hospital Common Room.
