The United States is losing more than 20 military veterans daily to suicide and over 700 first responders to suicide annually, The need for suicide prevention programs is large, far overwhelming the services available. Breaking the path to suicide takes time and a chance to find something to connect with that drives a desire to work through each new day and builds hope. Hiatus Ranch of Idaho was founded to prevent suicide among military veterans, first responders, and active military at risk by providing a safe place to reflect, reconnect, and restart. We are extending our long-term impact by adding a service dog breeding and training program. Our retreats, offered at no cost, help break the path to veteran suicide by providing a life hiatus at a working ranch.
