SEWA-AIFW & AshaUSA Merger Announcement! We are pleased to announce our forthcoming merger between SEWA-AIFW and AshaUSA This is scheduled to take place officially on May 5, 2025. On that date, our combined organization will begin conducting its offerings under SEWA-AIFW. SEWA-AIFW, a foundation of support for the South Asian community, and AshaUSA, a widely respected organization focused on fostering health and harmony in the South Asian community, are excited to announce a new strategic alignment between the two organizations. This collaboration will significantly expand the services available to the South Asian community across the State of Minnesota. SEWA-AIFW and AshaUSA share a deep commitment to fostering the health, safety, and well-being of the diverse South Asian population. By joining forces, we will build upon our respective strengths to create a more comprehensive and responsive network of support. AshaUSA has focused intently on addressing the unique challenges and opportunities of acculturation for first-generation South Asian immigrants. Their programs focused on increasing awareness and prevention have been instrumental in building healthy communities. Recognizing SEWA-AIFW's long-standing community trust and robust infrastructure, AshaUSA approached SEWA-AIFW with a vision for a unified future. This alignment reflects a shared belief that combining efforts will amplify our collective impact. Key AshaUSA initiatives will continue under the SEWA-AIFW umbrella. This ensures ongoing delivery and potential expansion of vital programs. These include mental health prevention training and webinars, research initiatives, Community Cultural presentations, the Senior HUM Group, and the Under the Banyan Tree storytelling. SEWA-AIFW is also pleased to welcome Sayali Amarapurkar, Executive Director of AshaUSA, to the team. Her expertise will be invaluable in ensuring a seamless integration and the continued success of these programs. AshaUSA’s current board will be sunset. AshaUSA founder, Kamala Puram, will continue to focus on other non-profit activities at St. Louis, and will serve as an ongoing advisor to SEWA-AIFW. “We are honored to join forces with AshaUSA. This unification allows us to amplify our collective impact and provide more comprehensive services to Minnesota’s South Asian community. We thank the staff and board at AshaUSA for their incredible years of service to the community,” shared Anjuli Mishra Cameron, CEO of SEWA-AIFW. “This merger with SEWA-AIFW marks an exciting chapter in AshaUSA’s journey of growth and impact. We are thrilled to join efforts with SEWA-AIFW and are confident that this merger will create significant value to the South Asian Community. AshaUSA programs complement SEWA-AIFW offerings, and the combined organization will be better positioned to deliver superior programs and services. I want to thank our board, staff and committed volunteers for their unwavering commitment and dedication, which has brought us to this exciting moment" added Kamala Puram, founder and Board Chair of AshaUSA. This organizational shift directly enhances the ability of SEWA-AIFW to address the evolving needs of the South Asian community. By building upon our combined strengths, we are creating a more robust and responsive support system for the growing and increasingly diverse populations that we serve. About SEWA-AIFW: SEWA-AIFW has supported South Asian communities in Minnesota since 2004, focusing on health care and mental health access, economic empowerment, access to family violence supports, and youth and elder programs.
