Jewish Community Council of Greater Coney Island: A Community-Based Organization With A Citywide Scope. We are a not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for the under-served population throughout the five boroughs of NYC Jewish Community Council of Greater Coney Island is a private not-for-profit 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. We were founded in 1973 to provide a wide-spectrum of social services to the low-income residents of southern Brooklyn (regardless of race and religion), and to foster neighborhood stabilization. Our current mission dedicates our resources to these goals and to the provision of supportive services designed at improving the quality of life of the frail elderly, vocationally disadvantaged poor, underprivileged immigrants and educationally at-risk youth of our City and to provide technical assistance to enhance the programmatic, administrative and fiscal capacity of other not-for-profit organizations.

Last year some of our programmatic achievements included Hours of personal care housekeeping and shopping assistance provided New York City CleanUp Corps participants were placed in paid internships Hours of college and career preparation services provided Coney Island communitybased housing preservation events Nonprofit professionals assisted with capacity building services Students benefitted from afterschool programming across multiple boroughs Meals were provided through our eight older adult centers Hours of health insurance counseling and advocacy were provided Units of transportation to elderly and disabled seniors facilitating their access to essential medical appointments and other services Lowincome adult students provided with ESL instruction Support Our Work Every cent counts. Help us transform the lives of the needy in our communities. Our Mission We improve the quality of life of the frail elderly vocationally disadvantaged poor underprivileged immigrants and educationally atrisk youth of our city and provide technical assistance to enhance the programmatic administrative and fiscal capacity of other nonprofit organizations.
