Cowboys would push Texas Longhorns up the Texas Trail to Ogallala and ship them east on the Union Pacific Railroad. Ogallala consisted of a small cluster of buildings including the two most notorious saloons The Crystal Palace and Cowboys Rest. Poker matches gunfights and saloon girls were a familiar site in the town.
