The Cuttyhunk Historical Society operates the Museum of the Elizabeth Islands a seasonal museum on Cuttyhunk Island MA. The last island in the Elizabeth Islands chain Cuttyhunk is located between New Bedford and Marthas Vineyard. The Native Americans appropriately named the island for being halfway across Buzzards Bay.

The Cuttyhunk Club Kings of the Preakness Held on the third Saturday in May, the Preakness is the middle jewel of the Triple Crown series of racing. Usually held at Pimlico, the second oldest racetrack still in operation in the entire United States after Saratoga, the Preakness Stakes is named for the winning colt of a dinner wager race among prominent racing enthusiasts in Saratoga. The first Preakness in 1873 drew seven starters.
