Exactly one month ago, we celebrated the colors, flavors, and cultural traditions at our annual Guelaguetza in Santa Cruz. ¡Un día inolvidable y de mucho orgullo para Senderos!
Hoy, durante el Carnaval de San Francisco, nuestras estudiantes de Senderos tuvieron la increíble oportunidad de conocer a Juana Hernández López, la Diosa Centeótl 2024/2025 de Oaxaca, quien compartió un mensaje poderoso con nuestras niñas sobre la importancia de mantener viva nuestra cultura. Nos emocionó profundamente cuando felicitó a nuestra instructora de danza Jenny Robles por su pasión y entrega al enseñar a nuestras estudiantes sus raíces a través del baile, incluyendo “Flor de Piña”—la danza con la que nuestras estudiantes participaron con orgullo en el desfile. También fue un verdadero privilegio presenciar el emotivo encuentro entre la Diosa Centeótl de Oaxaca y La diosa Centeotl del norte de California, acompañadas por el Diputado Migrante Zeferino García. Today during the San Francisco Carnaval, our Senderos students had the incredible opportunity to meet Juana Hernández López, the Diosa Centeótl 2024/2025 from Oaxaca. She shared a powerful message with our girls about the importance of preserving and honoring our culture. We were especially moved when she congratulated our very own dance instructor Jenny Robles for her dedication and passion in teaching traditional Oaxacan dances, including “Flor de Piña”—the dance our students proudly performed in the parade, celebrating our heritage with pride and grace. It was also a true privilege to witness the special moment when the Diosa Centeótl from Oaxaca met our Diosa Centeótl from Northern California, alongside Diputado Migrante Zeferino García.
