FAR’s Executive Director of Gyumri Information Technology Center (GITC), Amalya Yeghoyan, was in New York City last week to raise awareness and support for Armenian Creative Technologies College (ACT). One of her stops was the floor of the New York Stock Exchange, where she was interviewed live by NYSE TV Live anchor, Kristen Scholer, about the importance of how and why a skills-based approach to higher education is key to Armenia becoming a larger part of the global economy. “Armenia is already developing in technology, and we have many technological companies and startups…There is a high demand for skilled young professionals ready for future careers, not just for now, but long-term. This is the goal of our three departments at ACT College: Digital Art, Computer Science, and Engineering & Manufacturing.” Amalya told Scholer. “Students will not only receive an innovative curriculum, but they will also study in a cutting-edge building, which is new not only in Armenia but in the region. We hope this will motivate them to become future experts in AI, cybersecurity, and digital art, ultimately strengthening the country and its economy.” She also announced that ACT has already signed an agreement with Service Now to bring their educational program to ACT College, as well as an exchange program with Columbia University and a plan to bring a National STEM Conference to Armenia.
