1 in 4 children live with a parent struggling with substance use. Let that sink in. A recent study out of the University of Michigan found that around 19 million kids in the U.S. are living in households where at least one parent has a substance use disorder. That includes over 6 million children who also live with a parent battling mental health issues. These kids are at higher risk for early substance use, mental health challenges, and long-term instability. The most commonly misused substances? Alcohol and cannabis –followed by prescription meds and illicit drugs. At the 12-24 Club, we believe recovery doesn’t just help individuals – it transforms families and communities.
