🎤The Bronx Revolution & The Birth of Hip Hop Event 📍 YBCA Forum, 701 Mission St., SF 🗓️ June 20th & 21st 🌐 thebronxrevolution.org [Link in B I O] Don’t mind us, we’re just over here stanning our own show 😭🙌🏽🎊🎉 🎭 Artist Profile: Grandwizzard Theodore Known worldwide as the creator of the scratch and needle drop, Grandwizzard Theodore is one of Hip Hop’s living legends. Growing up in the South Bronx, Theodore was captivated by the music flowing from his brothers’ (Mean Gene and Cordio of the “L” Brothers) DJ equipment. One iconic moment in the P.S. 63 schoolyard forever changed the course of music—standing on a milk crate, young Theodore scratched back and forth on the turntable, inventing the art form now synonymous with Hip Hop. His groundbreaking skills earned him appearances in the first Hip Hop film, Wild Style, and the documentary Scratch, as well as a detailed feature in the Netflix series The Get Down. Theodore has received numerous accolades, including the Vanguard Lifetime Achievement Award, Rane Best Performer Award, DMC DJ Hall of Fame Award, and the Global Lifetime Achievement Award. He also became the first DJ to be inducted into Guitar Center’s Rock Walk of Fame alongside Grandmaster Flash and DXT. Since 2002, Theodore has shared his craft with aspiring DJs at the NYC Scratch Academy and has DJ’d for legends like Kurtis Blow, Big Daddy Kane, KRS-One, Roxanne Shanté, and more. His influence continues to resonate across the globe as he spreads the art of scratching through masterclasses and live performances.
