Wow, what an exciting weekend for accessibility! MindsEye's Director of Audio Description, Magan, had an amazing time helping to make the Indianapolis 500 more accessible at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Live audio description was provided via LiveVoice along with the use of the Cadence by @Tactile Engineering. The Cadence is a handheld device that allows readers to access up to eight lines of electronic Braille cells. During the race, participants could feel the position and movement of the cars in real-time. Each car had full telemetry data available in tactile format and audio, giving driver, team, speed and other critical data to the fan at their fingertips. Three photos: The handheld Cadence device is black with four green buttons across the bottom and a round curser and four small buttons on the left side. The center of the device is an oval, representing the racetrack. In the second photo, describer Jeff Heck and Magan pose in front of the Pagoda from pit row before the race. In the third photo, Jeff stands at an enormous window looking down at the track below. The LiveVoice app is open on the tablet next to him and he wears a headphone mic as he live describes the race. Tens of thousands of fans--just a very small portion of the 350,000 in attendance--fill the stands below and across the track. (fb)

In honor of Memorial Day, our station will be closed. We would like to take this moment to thank all who have served and sacrificed for our country. We hope everyone has a safe holiday.
