Caroga Lake Volunteer Fire Company
The Caroga Lake Volunteer Fire Company, Inc. (CLVFC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing fire and emergency services in the Town of Caroga, Town of Bleecker, and the Piseco Fire Company area in Fulton County, New York. Established in 1951, CLVFC operates as a volunteer fire department serving a significant rural area of approximately 100 square miles within the Adirondack Park.
History
CLVFC was incorporated in 1951, with the initial fire station built by volunteers in 1955 using public donations. The first station's construction cost totaled $4,998.41. In 2020, a new fire station was inaugurated, reflecting the growth and evolving needs of the community it serves.
Operations and Services

- Two support trailers
- A jon boat
CLVFC offers fire protection and emergency services, responding to various incidents and emergencies, including fires, medical emergencies, and rescue operations.
Funding and Community Support
The funding for CLVFC primarily comes from contracts with local towns, as well as federal and state grants, private foundations, and donations from community members. The company expresses gratitude for the ongoing support from residents, which has been instrumental in the maintenance and development of its facilities and services.
Volunteer Opportunities
CLVFC encourages community members to join its ranks as volunteer firefighters or emergency medical technicians (EMTs). The organization offers comprehensive training at no cost, with all necessary equipment provided. Volunteers come from diverse backgrounds, including teenagers seeking training opportunities, working adults, and retirees, all united by the common goal of serving their community.
Community Engagement
The Caroga Lake Volunteer Fire Company actively participates in community events and engages with residents to foster strong relationships. Their commitment to public service is reflected in the appreciation letters received from those they have assisted during emergencies.
Through its dedicated volunteers and robust community support, the Caroga Lake Volunteer Fire Company continues to uphold its mission of protecting and serving the residents of Caroga Lake and the surrounding areas.
