When the Paid Family and Medical Leave Act was passed in 2017, it only included job protection for certain workers. We are one of just 13 states that offer PFML. However, we had one of the country’s most restrictive policies for job protection. With the governor signing HB 1213 into law earlier this month, PFML will now provide job protection to most workers, streamline small business grants, and make the program more equitable.
