Fireside chat: What’s Wild with Eric Orff! Join veteran wildlife biologist Eric Orff, who has lived a life on the wild side in New Hampshire, for a firside chat about his book What’s Wild: A Half-Century of Wisdom from the Woods and Rivers of New England. From saving thousands of mother bats from certain death by poison, to riding a ten-point whitetail buck, when the "tranquilized" deer lurched to his feet with Eric astride as it thundered downhill at warp speed in the dark of the night. Holding on for DEER life had a whole other meaning! More than four dozen stories are featured in What's Wild, his first book. Written during his five-decade career as a wildlife biologist in New Hampshire, these wonderful tales of fish and wildlife represent a lifetime filled with adventures in the Wild. Over the last 20 years Eric has been alerting the citizens of NH to the realities of climate change, as he was faced with the undeniable scientific data of the changes to our ecosystem. Eric is known for his effective conservation messaging and advocacy—If Only Moose Could Vote—as well as his trademark humor. He voiced thousands of radio PSAs on WOKQ, during his years working for NH Fish and Game, and then as a consultant for the National Wildlife Federation. He’s a member of NH Audubon’s policy council, and the recipient of many awards for his writing and his conservation work. This event is free and open to the public, registration is required for this event. (fb)
