Since 1963, American Atheists has protected the absolute separation of religion from government, raised the profile of atheists and atheism in our nation’s public and political discourse, and educated Americans about atheism. American Atheists envisions a world in which public policy is made using the best evidence we have rather than religious dogma and where religious beliefs are no longer seen as an excuse for bigotry or cause to receive special treatment from the government. We strive to create an environment where atheism and atheists are accepted as members of our nation’s communities and where casual bigotry against our community is seen as abhorrent and unacceptable.

"Today’s ruling is a major victory for nonreligious Americans and, indeed, for all supporters of church-state separation. The lower court got it right: The First Amendment is clear our government must never compel taxpayers to support a particular religion. We also know Christian Nationalists will not stop here, and neither will we.
