Big news from the LOPE barn: We’ve already reached over 1,000 students and teachers in 2025 — and we’re on track to hit 1,200 by summer. Just six months ago, we were thrilled (and honestly a little amazed) to have reached 300 youth in all of 2024. That felt big. That was big. And now? We’ve nearly quadrupled that number — in less than half the time. The demand for LOPE’s unique approach to STEM learning — using horsemanship and the life stories of ex-racehorses — is growing fast. Teachers are reaching out. Students are showing up with wide eyes and big questions. And the LOPE horses are answering — quietly, consistently, powerfully. We’re now at capacity — both at the farm and within our dedicated team. That’s a good challenge to have. And it means one thing: It’s time to grow. This summer, we’re looking to welcome new supporters, foundations, sponsors, and educational partners who believe in what happens when warhorses teach science — and when students get to learn in barns and the real world of nature. We’re also beginning to design deeper partnerships with the amazing donors and champions who’ve helped us reach this point — so that together, we can create long-term impact for more horses and kids. Tasks will include cleaning stalls/paddocks, feeding horses, cleaning water troughs, and assisting with basic farm maintenance. Flexible summer schedule tailored to YOUR availability. Work outdoors in a farm setting and build real-world skills and responsibility. Must have own vehicle to get to our Driftwood location and have the ability to commit to a consistent weekly schedule (2-4+ hrs per week).
