Join on June 10 for an online discussion! Many of the world’s most vital food crops share a powerful trait: their ability to self-replicate. This means that when farmers plant seeds, the resulting harvest can, in many cases, be replanted without losing the crop’s desirable traits. This is true for pureline inbred crops like wheat, rice, beans, peas, and lettuce—which naturally self-pollinate—as well as for clonally propagated crops like potato, yam, and cassava, which are reproduced from tubers or cuttings. These self-replicating varieties offer a unique advantage: they can scale rapidly from grower to grower, and through markets, while still using centralized sources that sell quality seed of these varieties. This opens up exciting possibilities for accelerating access to improved crop varieties, especially in communities where food security is most at risk. Seed Programs International is working to harness this potential by distributing small test packets of improved seeds, helping growers evaluate, adopt, and share them more easily. Join us to explore how self-replicating technology in agriculture can transform local food systems and build a more resilient future. Attendees are encouraged to participate in the discussion and share challenges from the field. Please also share with us what topics you would like us to cover in future webinars. Event will be held at 12:00 PM EST, 16:00 PM UTC.
