Core Services of Northeast Tennessee

Core Services of Northeast Tennessee is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in the greater Johnson City area. The organization provides a wide array of services aimed at empowering these individuals to live valued lives within their communities.

Mission and Vision

The mission of Core Services of Northeast Tennessee is to empower individuals with intellectual disabilities to live lives connected to their families, friends, and community. Their vision is for people with intellectual disabilities to participate in, contribute to, and be valued members of their chosen communities.

Services and Accolades

Core Services offers an extensive range of support, including supported living, employment services, technology integration, respite care, personal assistance, funds management, nursing, and more. The organization is licensed by the Tennessee Department of Health and the Tennessee Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (DIDD).

In 2021, Core Services became one of the first provider agencies in Tennessee to achieve SHIFT Technology First Accreditation, demonstrating its commitment to integrating enabling technology to support self-determination and independence. This was followed by a second term of Technology First Reaccreditation in 2024.

Additionally, Core Services holds Person-Centered Excellence Accreditation with Distinction through CQL | The Council on Quality and Leadership, one of only a few organizations worldwide to achieve this prestigious accreditation. In 2022, the Executive Director of Core Services received the CQL President's Award for innovative leadership in the disability services sector. Core Services was also recognized with the 2022 Moving Mountains Award for its direct support workforce development initiatives.
