home - Colonia Lightshine TARAHUMARACHANGING Northern Mexicos Tarahumara are world renowned ultra long distance runners. Their estimated population of 120000 is less than 2 Evangelical Christian. Pressured by drought drug cartel violence and overall poverty and pulled by the lure of opportunities in nearby cities more than half of the Tarahumara have left their traditional life in the Sierra Madre Mountain range and have ventured to face new challenges pursuing their culture. But the cities have proven dangerous Tarahumara find themselves marginalized begging with uncertain employment opportunities.
